Imphal: A Manipur Congress delegation toured Kanto Sabal Leikai in Leimakhong Chingmang yesterday to survey the charred remains of six houses torched on July 11. CLP leader K. Meghachandra Singh headed the group, which included M. Hemanta Singh, Y. Surachandra Singh, A. Oken Singh, S. Jeeten Singh, Md. Wahidur Rahaman, W. Shyamjai Singh, Angshil Maring, W. Rojit Singh, T. Loken Singh, W. Anand Singh, and retired Major Y. Angamba Singh. The team met with displaced families to hear their complaints and offer support.

Meghachandra Singh hit hard at the authorities during a media briefing. He blamed the incident on clear security failures, noting the destruction happened right near the GOC 57 Mountain Division gate. He stated, "The incident exposed serious lapses in the security arrangement." The delegation claimed the chaos stems from poor coordination between state officials and central security forces. They warned that ongoing arson after three years of conflict proves the current government has failed to bring peace.

The Congress leaders later sat down with Major General Shubhankar Basu and Brigadier JBS Rathi to demand immediate action. A. Oken Singh and displaced person representative Ravi Singh joined the talks. The delegation pressed the Army to overhaul security protocols to stop future attacks. They pushed for stronger measures to restore order and keep local residents safe.
