Congress Leader Blames Security Failures for Kanto Sabal Arson

Imphal: CLP leader K. Meghachandra toured the burnt remains of six houses in Kanto Sabal Leikai today. The fire occurred on July 11. He blamed the state government for clear security lapses and negligence. The delegation included former Minister M. Hemanta Singh, former MLA Y. Surachandra Singh, SC Chairman A. Oken Singh, and several MPCC officials, including S. Jeeten Singh, Md. Wahidur Rahaman, W. Shyamjai Singh, Angshil Maring, W. Rojit Singh, T. Loken Singh, and W. Anand Singh. Retired Major Y. Angamba Singh also joined the group.

The arson site sits near the gate of the GOC, 57 Mountain Division. Meghachandra questioned the lack of coordination between the State Government and Central security forces. Ethnic conflict has gripped the region for nearly three years. Despite this long duration, arson attacks continue to break out. Peace remains elusive. Meghachandra stated, "The incident exposed serious security lapses and negligence by the government."

This latest attack signals a breakdown in safety for vulnerable areas. The CLP leader demanded more effective measures to protect local residents. He insists that normalcy has not returned to the state under the current administration.
