Kohima: The Lotha Lower Range Public Organisation and the Lotha Lower Range Students Union condemned the violent assault of their officials. Miscreants attacked an LLRPO joint secretary alongside the chairmen of Longayim and Lio Longchum villages near the Negheribil border. The victims faced physical manhandling while traveling legally.
A joint FIR now sits with police. It names the leaders of Longayim, Lio Longchum, and Mekirang villages as plaintiffs. The LLRPO demanded immediate arrests. They warned authorities that impunity breeds more violence. The group stated, "civilians and miscreants must not be allowed to take law and order into their own hands."
This attack occurred despite a new tripartite agreement between Assam, Nagaland, and the Indian government regarding the Disputed Area Belt. The organizations urged the state to prioritize the foothill road for farmer safety. They insist that land and boundary disputes require formal diplomacy, not street-level hostility. Failure to prosecute the attackers will force the LLRPO to mobilize other tribal bodies for a wider response.
