Guwahati: Lovlina Borgohain brought home a silver medal from the 2026 Commonwealth Games. The 27-year-old boxer fought in the women's 75kg final on Sunday, August 1. She missed the gold but grabbed her first career medal at these games.
The Assam native reached the title bout after a dominant 5-0 win over Tarona Taafaki of Tuvalu. She entered the ring with high hopes after a strong training cycle. Before the fight, she said, "Now that I have qualified for the finals, it will be even tougher. I will try my best to achieve gold this time."
This finish adds to a packed trophy case for the fighter from Baro Mukhia village in the Golaghat district. She earned a bronze at the Tokyo Olympics and followed that with a gold at the 2023 IBA Women's World Boxing Championships. Borgohain remains one of India's top athletes on the world stage.
