Jalukie Youth Group Demands Accountability Over Substandard Infrastructure Projects

Kohima: The Jalukie Pumling Youth Organisation (JPYO) has raised alarms regarding the quality and progress of development projects within the Jalukie jurisdiction. Following a recent inspection, the group reported that multiple construction sites failed to meet essential standards, citing the use of inferior materials like local sand rather than the required Deopani sand.

The inspection highlighted specific concerns regarding the DB Lane road construction, where the group claimed contractors used stone chips simply to create a superficial appearance of progress. This failure to use proper materials has made the area difficult for both pedestrians and motorists to navigate.

Infrastructure projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) have also faced significant scrutiny. The road stretch connecting Jalukie Town to Kamdi Bazaar remains unfinished, falling behind similar projects in other districts. Completed sections of the route are already showing signs of wear, and poorly constructed culverts have caused persistent waterlogging issues.

The JPYO has called on the relevant government departments to perform immediate field verifications and tighten oversight of all public works. The organization emphasized that it will not tolerate contractors or agencies that ignore project specifications or cause unnecessary delays. Moving forward, the group intends to maintain strict surveillance over local infrastructure to ensure public safety and accountability.
