Kohima: Minister Jacob Zhimomi says the Central government is backing women across the country. He pushed this message at the Lydia Block Federation annual meeting in Niuland on June 27. Zhimomi claims initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana changed lives. Free LPG access clears kitchen smoke. This improves respiratory health and life expectancy for thousands.

State officials are working to deliver these benefits to every woman in Nagaland. Clean water and sanitation projects also help. The Swachh Bharat Mission and Jal Jeevan Mission keep women closer to home. They no longer travel long distances for daily needs. Zhimomi called women the backbone of every household.

The federation currently represents nearly 80 percent of households in the block. It links grassroots groups with banks and state agencies. The group includes 205 SHGs, 25 village organizations, and 1500 members. Leaders say 270 women have achieved the status of lakhpati didis so far. They want to hit a target of 500. Imonenla Imkong Phom from the NSRLM urged members to keep building the local economy. The meeting closed with awards for outstanding community cadres. Zhimomi praised the group for "emerging as a vocal platform of empowerment, rural income enhancement and financial independence."
