Jacob Zhimomi inaugurates new administrative housing in Niuland

Kohima: Minister for PHED and Cooperation Jacob Zhimomi opened a new Type C duplex quarter for administrative officers in Niuland on Monday. The facility aims to bolster infrastructure in the newly formed district. Zhimomi thanked Advisor for CAWD Kudecho Khamo for his guidance and credited Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for securing the necessary funds. The project followed the Detailed Project Report exactly. It finished on schedule.

Technical reports by Assistant Engineer Daniel H. Lotha reveal the structure features an RCC frame with a Dyna roof. Each of the two units spans 1,470 square feet. The ground floor holds a kitchen, two storage rooms, a sitting area, and a lobby. The top floor contains three rooms, including a master bedroom with an attached bath. Crews started building in 2023 and wrapped up in 2026. The site includes power, sanitation, and rainwater harvesting.

Zhimomi used the event to push for tribal cohesion. He warned that internal fighting among leaders harms the future of all Naga people. The state has limited industry. Jobs are scarce outside government work. He insisted that political stability remains the only path to fair growth across all regions. Since 2022, the government has set up five to six new district headquarters.

Advisor Kudecho Khamo noted the project was managed by the General Administration Department. GAD oversees more than 1,400 buildings throughout the state. Plans are already underway for a new Deputy Commissioner Complex in Niuland. Khamo described the region as a “mini Nagaland,” calling on the Sumi community and local leaders to safeguard public property and maintain peace. The ceremony included an invocation by Pastor Kughavi V. Zhimo and a welcome address by Deputy Commissioner T.L. Kiusumong Tikhir.
