Itanagar: Volunteers cleared 5,220 kg of garbage from the Yagamso River in Itanagar this past Saturday, August 8. The cleanup targeted waste buildup to protect local water supplies and push for better disposal habits. The Youth Mission for Clean River and the Abralow Memorial Multipurpose Society ran the event, backed by the Itanagar Smart City Development Corporation Limited.

The haul was massive. Workers pulled 9,000 disposable plates and glasses from the water, plus 8,500 cement, rice, and delivery bags. Plastic debris accounted for another 8,000 pieces. It was a staggering amount of refuse.

Yukar Yaro, corporator for Itanagar Municipal Corporation Ward No. 10, praised the effort. He demanded that locals stop treating rivers like trash bins. Yaro wants more public participation to keep the city environment healthy.

YMCR chairman SD Loda warned that citizens must step up to protect their waterways. He told the public, "spread awareness about environmental conservation within their communities." Protecting the river remains the primary goal for these activists.
