Guwahati police arrest man for illegal beef possession

Guwahati: Guwahati police busted a suspected illegal meat operation. Officers raided a rented house on Pragati Path in the Hatigaon area at 8:45 am on August 7. They walked away with 9.640 kg of suspected beef and 3 kg of meat marked as buffalo.

Police arrested 31-year-old Rohul Amin. He is the son of Ibrahim Ali and hails from Garemari Pathar in Barpeta district. The property belongs to Rehena Begum.

Authorities booked Amin under Case No. 164/2026. Charges include violations of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Assam Cattle Preservation Act of 2021, and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act of 1960. Police said that "further investigation into the case is underway."
