Guwahati: Jorhat MP Gaurav Gogoi wants answers. He claims Union Home Minister Amit Shah has missed 14 consecutive days of Lok Sabha sessions. Shah has not stepped onto the floor since July 21. Gogoi took to social media on August 7 to highlight the tally.

The Congress president for Assam demands a formal statement from the Home Minister. Opposition leaders want an explanation regarding state-led crackdowns on student demonstrators. Gogoi first aired these concerns during an August 3 media session in New Delhi. He specifically called for a report on how government agencies in states run by the BJP handle protesters.

Gogoi highlighted a darker trend during his remarks. He alleged that authorities and online mobs are singling out girls and minor female students. “We are witnessing specific campaigns being run against girls, young women and minor female students,” he said. The MP wants to know if police will file FIRs against those hurling abuse at these students on social media. His pressure keeps the heat on the Home Ministry as the standoff over student treatment continues.
