Shillong: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong launched Meghalaya’s first district-level digital grievance portal on July 29. The site, dc-ekh.in, went live at the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Shillong. It marks a push to fix administrative bottlenecks.
Tynsong said the platform gives people an easy way to air complaints at the individual, village, or community level. The goal is faster results. "The government is working towards creating an efficient service delivery mechanism that reaches every citizen," Tynsong said. He believes the tool boosts accountability and public trust.
East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal designed the system. It lets users track case progress in real time. Baranwal noted that citizens can file issues directly on the site or through Gram Sevaks. These officials then pass the files to the relevant Block Development Officers. People can still mail letters or drop physical complaints at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
Tynsong pointed to this project as a model for the rest of the state. He also mentioned recent reforms at District Transport Offices aimed at speeding up license issuance. While other departments offer digital services, this portal specifically targets the struggle of coordinating across multiple agencies. It is the first project of its kind in Meghalaya.
