East Dimapur Town Council Threatens Trash Pickup Cuts Over Unpaid Fees

Kohima: The East Dimapur Town Council is tightening the screws on waste management. Officials warned residents that trash pickup stops immediately for any household with unpaid sanitation fees. Service stays suspended until all outstanding bills clear.

Landlords and property owners face new rules. Every apartment must now keep separate bins for wet and dry waste. Owners must also build compost pits on their property to handle organic scraps. The council demands strict adherence to these requirements.

Dumping trash in drains or on roadsides is illegal. Burning garbage also earns a quick fine. Violators will face inspections and penalties under current town regulations. The council says it needs full public cooperation to keep the city clean, urging residents to "practice proper waste segregation and responsible waste disposal to help maintain a clean, healthy and environmentally sustainable East Dimapur."
