Don Bosco College Kohima Welcomes New Students at 12th Freshers’ Day

Kohima: Don Bosco College, Kohima, celebrated its 12th Freshers’ Day on June 20, welcoming the incoming class with messages of academic purpose and personal growth. The event featured Dr. Alice K. Vizo, Director of Postal Services in Nagaland, who served as the special invitee for the ceremony.

Addressing the new students, Dr. Vizo emphasized that the true value of education extends far beyond the acquisition of degrees. She urged the cohort to focus on resilience, societal service, and character development, noting that long-term success requires persistence and daily dedication. She explicitly stated: "Success is not effortless but demands persistence, consistency, and daily dedication."

Dr. Vizo also highlighted the importance of time management and digital accountability. She encouraged the students to remain connected to their cultural roots while preparing to become leaders in an evolving world. Dr. Imtinaro Longkumer, representing the faculty, invited the students to embrace the values of the college, while Gensing Humtsoe spoke on behalf of the freshers to express their collective aspirations.

The event included a crowning ceremony where N. Bin Yemjong and Kesho Kent were named Mr. and Ms. Fresher 2026. The program featured performances from the college music club, with the principal, Fr. Dr. Tious Varghese, providing the opening blessing.
