Dimapur Municipal Council Reaffirms Ban on Single-Use Plastics

Kohima: The Dimapur Municipal Council has officially reaffirmed its ban on single-use plastics across the region. CEO Dr. Kuzonyi Wideo cited the council's September 13, 2024, notification to remind traders, business owners, and the general public that the government directive remains firmly in effect.

Despite ongoing awareness campaigns, the council noted that some establishments continue to manufacture, stock, and distribute prohibited plastic items. Dr. Wideo warned that those found violating the rules will face consequences. The council stated, "inspection and enforcement drives would be intensified" to ensure compliance with the ongoing environmental mandates.

Officials are urging the public to shift toward biodegradable and reusable alternatives. The council expects full cooperation from the community to help maintain a cleaner and more sustainable environment for Dimapur.
