Kohima: Dimapur Municipal Council and the Municipal Affairs Department of Nagaland honored city sanitation workers on Monday. The event took place at the DMC Conference Hall under the #CatchTheRain campaign. Officials recognized the crews for their work clearing out neglected drainage systems throughout the municipality.
These workers fixed storm water flow and killed off persistent waterlogging. Their efforts revived natural water channels and scrubbed the city clean. Public support for the cleanup drive remains high. Each sanitation worker received a Certificate of Appreciation plus a cash reward for their labor.
DMC CEO Dr. Kuzonyi Wideo handed out the awards. He praised the staff for their grit and hard work. Wideo stated, "Their unwavering dedication and highlighted their indispensable role in protecting public health, conserving water resources, and building a cleaner, greener and more resilient Dimapur."
The day included talk sessions and success stories from the field. Participants discussed long term goals for drainage maintenance and water conservation. The city now looks to sustain these improvements through ongoing infrastructure care.
