Kohima: Diezephe village held a dedication ceremony for its Village Foundation Monolith on Saturday. The event marked the start of the community's 50th anniversary countdown, with the main golden jubilee celebration set for October 29. Thepfuneituo Rio, president of the Tenyimia Union Dimapur, served as the special guest and pulled the cover off the stone marker.
Pastor Kemhalhoulie Rhatsu of DABC led the dedicatory prayer. During a formal session at the Village Panchayat Hall, Rio urged the residents to focus on reconciliation and unity. "Jubilee as a time for reflection, reconciliation and renewal of relationships," Rio told the crowd. He asked the villagers to learn from their history while they prepare for the milestone.
Velasüzo Shijoh, who leads the Jubilee Organising Committee, detailed the village growth from its early days. The settlement began with 50 to 60 households. Today, the village hosts 450 households and about 2,000 residents living together. Village Council chairman Vezota Chüzho chaired the gathering, while pastor T. Mar Ozüküm offered the vote of thanks. The day ended with a community feast.
