Kohima: Six BJP councillors in Dimapur are fed up. They feel ignored by state party leadership despite winning their seats over two years ago. The group represents Wards 22, 4, 6, 5, and 8 from the Dimapur-I constituency, plus Ward 17 from Dimapur-II.
These officials ran on the BJP ticket expecting support. They trusted the party to secure their place in the Dimapur Municipal Council. Because the BJP and NPF run the state as partners, the councillors expected their leaders to fight for them. Instead, nothing happened. Promises from legislators and party bosses went nowhere.
The clock is ticking. Their terms are almost up, yet they lack any real authority or role in the administration. It stings. The councillors told the press they feel left behind by the people who should have had their backs. They stated their situation has left them feeling “like orphans” while they struggle to serve their constituents.
They insist they entered politics to work, not to cash in. A single office was finally provided in August after a long wait, but it is not enough. The group already sent a formal memorandum to the national party leadership. They now wait for state legislators to step in and fix the mess before their time runs out.
