Kohima: Dimapur district administration grounded heavy trucks on July 24. Ten-wheelers and other heavy motor vehicles cannot use National Highways 29 and 02. The order stands until further notice. Deputy Commissioner and DDMA Chairman Dr. Tinojonshi Chang issued the mandate to stop road damage and keep traffic moving. Constant rain created dangerous conditions.
Official rules are firm. "The movement of 10-wheeler vehicles and other heavy vehicles shall not be permitted on the notified road/area during the period of restriction. Any movement of such vehicles, if unavoidable, shall be undertaken only with prior permission from the competent authority," the order stated. You need a permit for essential travel.
The police and traffic departments have orders to enforce the ban immediately. Anyone caught breaking these rules faces legal action. Officials are watching the roads for violators. Stay off the highways if you have a heavy load.
