Imphal: The Committee on Tribal Unity (Sadar Hills) has tightened the screws in Kangpokpi. The Kuki civil group extended its total shutdown for another 48 hours. It starts at 5 pm on November 4 and runs through 5 pm on November 6, 2026. No activities get a pass. All markets, offices, schools, and transport services must stay locked down.
CoTU launched this agitation after finding the bodies of two Kuki-Zo youths, Tinginlun Chongloi and Paoginlal Hangsing, on November 1. The group demands the government act on their Charter of Demands. They claim the state's response remains inadequate. The organization branded their requirements as "non-negotiable and non-compromisable" while warning that partial compliance will not work.
They stripped away all previous exemptions to force the government's hand. Any failure to deliver justice during this window will spark even harder protests. CoTU insists the authorities bear full responsibility for any fallout. They expect the public to fall in line immediately. The committee warned that the community will consider stronger measures if their demands remain unmet.
