CoTU Shakes Up Leadership in Kangpokpi District

Imphal: The Committee on Tribal Unity has a new face at the top. The Kuki-Zo civil society group based in Kangpokpi district held its annual review and election at the Kangpokpi Christian Church. The Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills and the Sadar Hills Chiefs Association oversaw the process. Lamminthang Kipgen now holds the position of Chairman.

Leadership spots shifted across the board. Lunseh Kipgen and Thongjalun Mate took the roles of Vice Chairmen. N.S. Gangte secured the General Secretary seat, while Thangpilun Lhoujem serves as Assistant Secretary. Nicky Vaiphei handles the money as Finance Secretary. Manghekam Kipgen leads the Information and Media Cell.

Rev. K. Hangshing, Chairman of the Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship, performed the dedication and blessing prayer for the new team. The group remains under a two-year mandate established when they reformed on August 23, 2025. This first major reshuffle marks a key point in that timeline. The organisation stated that the review process is intended to ensure accountability. Officials plan to expand the cabinet on August 19 to broaden their structure. The gathering ended with a feast.
