Shillong: The Congress party is rebuilding its strength in Meghalaya. The state legislature currently has zero members from the party after years of governance. To reverse this, leadership roles have been redistributed to breathe new life into the organization. The party is acting under the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan initiative. All India Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge officially approved the new office bearers and core committees.
Vincent H Pala will lead the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee as president. He has served as a Member of Parliament three times. Deborah C Marak and Khranglin Lyngkhoi serve as working presidents. Tura Lok Sabha MP Saleng A Sangma takes the role of senior vice president. Boniface Bamon, Boldness L Nongrum, and Omarlin Kyndiah join as vice presidents. Wansuk Syiem, Sanjay Das, and Brigady N Marak fill the general secretary positions.
The party formed four main committees to manage internal operations. Former Tamil Nadu Congress leader A Chellakumar will lead the Political Affairs Committee, which includes Pala, Marak, and Sangma. Pala also chairs the Pradesh Election Committee. Khranglin Lyngkhoi and Wansuk Syiem act as convenors for the Disciplinary Action Committee. Saleng A Sangma leads the Manifesto Committee with Sanjay Das serving as convenor.
District units also received new leadership. Lawanpynshngain War will head the Eastern West Khasi Hills District Congress Committee. CB Syiem takes charge of the Ri Bhoi District Congress Committee. Princeco M Marak will lead the South West Garo Hills District Congress Committee. The party aims to regain its lost footing across the state through these strategic appointments.
