BJP Omits Meghalaya Leaders from New National Team

Shillong: The Bharatiya Janata Party named 64 new national office bearers to sharpen its internal operations. The party picked talent from across the country, but Meghalaya remains entirely shut out of the list. Party bosses left out every leader from the state even though the BJP currently helps run the government there as part of the MDA coalition.

Leadership slots for the Northeast region went to only three individuals. Tripura former chief minister and MP Biplab Deb, Nagaland Rajya Sabha MP Phangnon Konyak, and Assam representative Mriganka Deo Barman earned the national secretary posts. Meanwhile, Odisha MP Dr. Sambit Patra took over as the new in-charge for the region. Patra will also lead the BJP North East Coordination Cell.

The updated roster includes voices from various faiths to broaden the party reach. This group counts one Sikh, two Christians, one Muslim, one Jain, and one Parsi member. The party stated that the leadership selection process aimed to find people who are "kam changgipa, chadamberang aro a·songni pilak biaprangonikon nigope seokaha."
