Shillong: Meghalaya BJP leaders are turning up the heat on their MDA coalition partners. They want better management of Centrally Sponsored Schemes across the state. General secretary Wankitbok Pohshna says his party units are tracking every federal project on the ground. They are pushing locals to report any red flags immediately.
The party has spotted plenty of roadblocks. They describe these as implementation hiccups. Pohshna noted, "We are taking up this matter with our MDA coalition partners. We hope these issues will be corrected and our suggestions are taken up in due course."
Gaps in funding for community colleges and infrastructure in the Garo Hills drew sharp fire from the party recently. They also flagged shady dealings in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Specifically, reports surfaced that people were forced to pay for geo-tagging services. Execution issues under the MGNREGA program also remain a sore point. The BJP claims it will keep squeezing the state government until welfare benefits reach the people without these added costs.
