Kohima: The Political Affairs Committee of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee wants the Centre to hurry up. They met in Kohima on June 25 to demand action on stalled political agreements and clarify border oil deals. The party is losing patience. They blasted the state government for its handling of the Naga political issue and warned that appointing a ministerial-level interlocutor is a mistake.
Congress leaders Khriedi Theunuo, C Apok Jamir, Capt GK Zhimomi, and N Yona Konyak stood firm. They argued that such a move would only “turn the clock back.” The committee also hammered both state and federal officials over the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority delay. They called the hold-up unacceptable and demanded an immediate resolution to satisfy the people living in ENPO areas.
Transparency is the main sticking point for the group regarding energy deals. They back resource extraction to help the struggling state economy, but they refuse to accept secret agreements. The committee demanded the full release of the recent tripartite memorandum regarding oil and gas exploration. They warned officials that any deal compromising land ownership or state revenue will face stiff resistance.
