Kohima: The Chakhesang Students’ Union reached a six-point agreement with Ratna Infrastructures Projects Pvt Ltd this Monday. The deal forces the contractor to finish work on the Kohima-Jessami Road by September 24, 2026. NHIDCL officials stood by to witness the pact. Tensions boiled over after a 14-day ultimatum expired earlier this month.
Road conditions must improve fast. The agreement requires emergency repairs within 48 hours to make the route motorable. Crews need to fill potholes, clear blockages, and fix drainage issues immediately. The contractor also has to dump all non-functional machinery. CSU President Povozo Soho expects a report with geo-tagged photos to verify the work.
The contractor has 72 hours to bring in necessary equipment and workers. They must provide a full list of laborers to the union. Any accidents caused by poor maintenance fall squarely on the company. "The agreement further holds the EPC contractor fully responsible for any accident, loss or damage arising from improper road maintenance throughout the contract period, and makes it liable for compensation in respect of any such misfortune reported with evidence."
Joint inspections will happen every 20 days. The first check is set for July 13, 2026. The union warned that any missed deadline or broken rule voids the entire contract. If the company fails to act, they will face the consequences of future union action.
