Kohima: The Central Nagaland Students' Association is pushing back against a government proposal to relocate the Hindi Institute. The facility, currently situated in the Oriental Colony of Dimapur, is slated to move to a teacher training site in Medziphema, which is located in the Chümoukedima district.
Association president Zuchobemo Jungio and general secretary Imnayanger Jamir released a statement condemning the plan. They argued that the current location provides vital access to students and educators from various districts and surrounding regions. According to the leaders, the institute has long served as a key hub for language education and academic growth.
The association warned that the move would place an undue burden on students and other stakeholders. They also criticized the government for failing to consult with the public, civil society groups, and academic representatives before putting forward the relocation plan.
The CNSA is calling on authorities to halt the process and conduct a thorough review of how the shift would affect the community. They are urging officials to prioritize transparency by opening a dialogue with all involved parties before making any final decisions regarding the institute's future.
