Guwahati: Borluit Productions officially launched the promotional campaign for its debut feature film, Dipholu, on Sunday in Guwahati. The event opened with a tribute to singers Zubeen Garg and Gayatri Hazarika, whose final recorded work appears in the film. The production team released the romantic duet Xorogi Xopun to mark the beginning of the campaign, which leads up to the movie's theatrical release on August 21, 2026.
Director Nekib emphasized the emotional significance of the song during the event, stating, "The presence of Zubeen Da's voice is a blessing for us. Along with that, we could record Gayatri Ba's melodious voice. This is more of an emotional experience than a commercial song." The director noted that the collaboration was a meaningful highlight for the crew, who described the recording process with the late singers as a truly magical experience.
The film, which explores themes of love, humor, and social responsibility within rural Assamese life, features a diverse cast including Amrita Gogoi, Subrat Deori, and Arun Nath, along with a special appearance by Mridula Barua. Additional musical contributions come from Rupali Kashyap, Rakesh Reeyan, and Montumoni Saikia. Members of the band Jontro, who frequently collaborated with Garg, also attended the launch to honor his enduring legacy.
Dipholu serves as the first feature film from Borluit Productions following their previous work on short films. The producers, Jekiv and Nekib, designed the film to balance social consciousness with entertainment. The campaign will continue to highlight the film's narrative role while keeping the memory of the two iconic singers at the forefront of the project.
