Guwahati: Three men wanted for the murder of former All BTC Minority Students Union president Lafiqul Islam turned themselves in on September 5. Rupa Brahma, Bhadreswar Basumatary, and Dinku Mushahary surrendered to authorities following a lengthy investigation. They are now in custody.

Their names appeared as prime suspects during the ongoing Central Bureau of Investigation probe. Law enforcement previously assigned the case to a Special Investigation Team of the Assam Police before shifting the file to federal investigators. The high-profile inquiry remains active.

Jaidul Islam, the current ABMSU general secretary, addressed the surrender. He issued a statement regarding the development, though specific remarks were not shared. The group hopes the case finally reaches a conclusion.
