Kohima: Bhandari officials met on July 16 to greenlight local development plans. The Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board gathered at the Summer House-Cum-Guest House. ADC Longasen Lotha chaired the session. They approved Local Area Development Programme schemes for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. The board recommended these plans for final government clearance.

Electricity shortages topped the agenda. Members spent significant time debating power supply issues across the sub-division. Reliable power remains a major headache for the region.

Public works officials provided a construction update. Er. Elithung Ovung from the PWD reported that Nagaland Foothill Road is effectively done. Workers are now finishing small patches. This includes bridge work, approach slabs, toe walls, and river apron construction. Crews are on site now.

Veterinary officers also reported on rural initiatives. Dr. Kikali G. Sumi confirmed that June 2026 surveillance and monitoring efforts went well. These programs taught farmers about bio-security and scientific livestock management. The goal is to stop disease-related losses. Dr. Sumi noted, "The initiative aimed to encourage farmers to adopt Scientific Livestock Management and bio-security measures to curb economic losses from disease outbreaks." She also tracked livestock counts insured under the National Livestock Mission.

Lotha turned his attention to the upcoming population count. He praised the Census 2027 team for their recent progress. He demanded total accuracy. Officers must ensure no one is missed during the count. He wants every sub-division official to help the census teams succeed.

Meanwhile, in Longkhim, separate business is underway. ADC Anoka H. Assumi scheduled a separate SDPDB meeting for July 17 at 11 am in the DUDA Hall.
