Kohima: Bhandari officials gathered Thursday to map out the sub-division's future. ADC and SDPDB Vice Chairman Longasen Lotha led the session at the Summer House-Cum-Guest House. They focused on fixing persistent electricity problems and locked in development plans for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. The board officially greenlit the Local Area Development Programme schemes for the 40A/C Bhandari constituency, sending the paperwork to the state for a final sign-off.
Infrastructure progress took center stage. SDO Er Elithung Ovung confirmed that the Nagaland Foothill Road is mostly finished. Crews are now patching up select spots, building toe walls, and finishing river apron work. Bridges and approach slabs remain the final hurdles for the construction team.
Dr. Kikali G. Sumi, a VAS Quarantine Check Post officer, detailed local welfare efforts. She noted that her team ran surveillance and awareness drives for the Livestock Insurance Scheme throughout June 2026. The goal is simple: stop farmers from losing money to disease. She stated, "The initiative, she said, aimed to encourage farmers to adopt Scientific Livestock Management and bio-security measures to curb economic losses from disease outbreaks." She also tracked the latest numbers for livestock covered by the National Livestock Mission.
Lotha turned his attention to the upcoming head count. He praised the Census 2027 team for their hard work. He told the gathered officers to back the project fully. They must ensure that every single citizen in the sub-division gets counted without error.
