Kohima: Bhandari officials gathered Thursday to map out the sub-division's future. The Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board met at the Summer House-Cum-Guest House to tackle local priorities. ADC Longasen Lotha chaired the session. They greenlit the Local Area Development Programme schemes for 40 A/C Bhandari for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. The board sent these plans to the government for final clearance.
Power supply problems dominated the early talk. Members examined electricity challenges throughout the sub-division. Reliable power remains a major hurdle. Infrastructure progress also took center stage as Er. Elithung Ovung from the PWD updated the board on the Nagaland Foothill Road. Construction is finished, though workers are still fixing specific patches. These touch-ups include bridge work, approach slabs, toe walls, and river apron projects.
Livestock management efforts saw success in June 2026. Dr. Kikali G. Sumi, from the VAS Quarantine Check Post, reported on surveillance and awareness programs tied to the Livestock Insurance Scheme and National Livestock Mission. The goal is to reduce economic hits from disease outbreaks. "The initiative, she said, aimed to encourage farmers to adopt Scientific Livestock Management and bio-security measures to curb economic losses from disease outbreaks."
The board shifted focus to human geography next. ADC Lotha praised the Census 2027 team for their hard work. He demanded total accuracy. Every citizen must be counted. Lotha told all sub-division officers to back the census effort fully until the job ends.
