Guwahati: The upcoming Assamese feature film Postcard is scheduled for a statewide release on July 31, 2026. Directed by Sourav Baishya, the project serves as a heartfelt tribute to the late Kulada Kumar Bhattacharya, a towering figure in the regional arts who was renowned as a radio artist, actor, and director.

Bhattacharya left an indelible mark on Assamese culture, famously gaining household recognition through his performance in the radio play Parashuram. His background was uniquely refined, as he was one of the few Indian artists of his time to complete formal training in stage performance, film, and television in London. In the mid-1960s, he further cemented his legacy by founding the Assam National Theatre, which became a vital hub for serious theatrical production in the state.

Director Sourav Baishya brings extensive experience to the project, having transitioned from his early career in wedding photography and film to directing TV serials, short films, and the web series Nyay. The production features a musical score composed by Tarali Sharma, an artist recognized for her significant contributions to the Assamese music industry. Regarding the significance of the release, the article notes: "Postcard can be seen as an opportunity for audiences to witness Kulada Kumar Bhattacharya on screen one more time."

This film marks the second collaboration between Baishya and Bhattacharya, following their previous work on the film Khyonachar. By capturing Bhattacharya’s presence on screen, Postcard functions as both a narrative story and a historical document, preserving the work of a man who helped shape generations of performers in Assam.
