Guwahati: Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Ranjeet Kumar Dass publicly blasted Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi for his recent behavior toward the district Deputy Commissioner. Elected officials must collaborate with civil servants rather than treat them like hired help. The Speaker delivered this rebuke while visiting the Sri Sri Raghunath Bigrah Mandir Satra at Borghola in the Bongaigaon district.
Dass argued that some representatives act like they are royalty. He stated clearly that politicians hold no real power without the backing of the bureaucracy. The administration relies on officers to function while legislators provide policy direction. "If any minister or MLA thinks that government officers work under them, there is no greater fool than that," Dass said during his Abhayapuri stop.
The Speaker warned that Gogoi’s actions could hurt the people of Sivasagar. He urged the MLA to change his tune and show cooperation moving forward. Dass spent his time in the region offering prayers at the historic temple, using the trip to hammer home his point about proper conduct in public office.
