Guwahati: Assam police hauled in 6.3 kilograms of suspected cannabis in Kamrup district on July 22. Officers acted on a tip and descended on Haldhipara village around 11:30 am. They made the arrest during the midday sweep.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Atul Deka of the Hahim Outpost led the operation with Sub-Inspector Bijoy Nath of the Boko Police Station. The team caught 27-year-old Mitinson Marak in possession of the drugs. Marak, the son of Milikson Sangma, calls Warigrow home. He lives in the West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya.
Officers seized a motorcycle, registration number AS-16-K-4694, from the scene. They believe Marak used the bike to move the contraband. Police are now tracing where the drugs came from and where they were headed.
The CDSP of Boko-Chaygaon issued a stern warning regarding the local drug trade. The official stated, "the police would continue intensifying their drive against drug trafficking and warned that strict legal action would be taken against those involved in the illegal trade and transportation of narcotic substances." Legal processing continues as the investigation drags on.
