Guwahati: Morigaon Police intercepted a vehicle on Tuesday carrying 10 cattle in cramped, filthy conditions. Officers stopped the truck, registration AS 01 TC 7052, right in the center of town. Police detained two suspects at the scene. They moved the vehicle, the animals, and the men to Morigaon Sadar Police Station for questioning.
Meanwhile, in Cachar district, police pulled over a truck on Tuesday, September 8. The vehicle, registration AS-26AC-1763, was carrying a massive haul of narcotics. Acting on a tip, officers searched the truck near Shivpur under the Lakhipur Police Station area. They found a secret compartment inside the truck used to hide the drugs.
Police seized 23,000 suspected Yaba tablets weighing about 25 kg. These pills contain methamphetamine. Officers arrested Sahir Hussain Choudhary, a resident of Gobindapur Part-II, for the crime. Cachar Senior Superintendent of Police Partha Protim Das noted the effort taken to hide the stash: "The suspected contraband had been concealed inside a specially constructed secret chamber in the truck."
Investigators are now chasing leads on the drug network. They want to know where the shipment came from and who else is involved. Legal action against Choudhary has already begun.
