Guwahati: Assam Police intercepted 80,000 Yaba tablets during a raid in the Channighat area of Sribhumi district. The drugs, valued at Rs 8 crore, were hidden inside 240 soap boxes. Police stopped an unregistered Maruti Eeco van to make the bust. Three men are now in custody.
Officers identified the suspects as Enam Hussain from Dalgram, plus Shamim Uddin and Altaf Hussain from Dolugang. Ramakrishnanagar SDPO Anshul Sharma led the operation with Officer-in-Charge Priyabrata Sharma and a team from the district intelligence branch. Officials confirmed the narcotics originated in Mizoram.
"The accused will be produced before the court as further investigation continues," police stated. Investigators suspect the men are part of a larger interstate trafficking network. Authorities have filed a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The police have seized the van and are currently interrogating the suspects to track down remaining syndicate members.
