Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked for public restraint while police investigate allegations of AI-generated videos involving students and teachers at two Guwahati private schools. The investigation centers on Delhi Public School and St. Francis de Sales School after reports emerged regarding digitally manipulated content.
Sarma emphasized that the government is waiting for a formal police report before taking action. He stated, "The creation and circulation of fake videos that appear to be official in nature is a serious concern. As far as the Education Department is concerned, we will wait for the police to complete their investigation."
Joint Commissioner of Police Ankur Jain confirmed that the Crime Branch is reviewing the matter from every angle. Investigators have interviewed school administrators, teachers, and parents to identify those responsible for producing and sharing the images. Because the individuals involved include minors, officials are withholding specific details to maintain the sensitivity of the case.
Both schools have launched their own internal inquiries after discovering the allegations on June 11. They have engaged the Child Abuse Monitoring Committee and held meetings with affected families. The institutions maintain a strict policy against cyber misconduct, harassment, and the misuse of digital platforms as the formal investigation continues.
