Guwahati: Jorhat police detained Ahmed Ali, who also goes by the name Dr. Yakub Ali Ahmed, for allegedly faking medical credentials to work as a doctor. He secured a job as the in-charge of the Intensive Care Unit at Jorhat City Orthopaedic Hospital. His scheme fell apart after someone filed a complaint questioning his qualifications. Police moved fast. Officers took Ali into custody for interrogation and started digging into his professional background.

This is not his first time in trouble. Police previously arrested the same man in Chabua for similar offenses. The fact that he managed to land a high-stakes ICU position again has sparked alarms regarding how healthcare facilities check their staff. Investigators are now scrutinizing how he secured work at multiple hospitals and if management skipped basic background checks.

Authorities have not released details on how many patients he treated or how long he worked at the Jorhat facility. Patients in India can confirm a doctor’s standing through the National Medical Commission or state medical councils. Regarding the ongoing investigation, police stated, "Police have not yet made further details of the case public." The inquiry continues as officials piece together his full employment history.
