Assam Marks Success of Major Biodiversity and Forest Conservation Project

Guwahati: Assam Finance and Environment Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah joined stakeholders in Guwahati on June 16 to mark the official closure of the second phase of the Assam Project on Forest and Biodiversity Conservation. The workshop, hosted at the Radisson Blu Hotel, served as a platform to reflect on the state's recent advancements in ecological management.

During the event, Baruah praised the state's progress in protecting its natural resources under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He stated that "Assam has made significant progress in forest management and biodiversity conservation" while emerging as a national leader in the sector.

The minister credited the project's success to the combined efforts of the Forest Department, the APFBC Society, various partner organizations, and local community members. He emphasized that the initiative was instrumental in fostering sustainable forest practices and increasing public involvement in preservation efforts. Looking forward, the government reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding the state's natural heritage through continued conservation measures.
