Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Tuesday, November 3, that the state has cleared a major land dispute stalling the Zubeen Kshetra project in Sonapur. The roadblock involved two bighas of land belonging to Manoj Agarwala that were accidentally included in the site boundaries. To fix this, the government traded Agarwala an equivalent plot in Chandrapur.

The land swap lets the state regularize the site. Construction was impossible before this deal. Now, the path is clear. Sarma confirmed that the expert committee finished the project blueprint, providing a solid roadmap for the work ahead.

Sarma expects formal construction approval within 10 days. The tendering process will kick off immediately after that. The state government plans to move fast on the memorial complex, also called the Samadhi Kshetra, dedicated to the late Assamese singer Zubeen Garg. Discussing the progress during a media briefing after the Cabinet meeting, Sarma stated, "The land-related arrangement had been necessary to regularise the original project site."
