Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik wants a total overhaul of the state's administrative machinery. He met with Arunachal Pradesh Administrative Reforms Commission chairman Pramod Jain at Lok Bhavan this past Friday to lay out his vision for a smarter government. Reforms must hit the ground running. Parnaik demanded practical, people-centric systems that prioritize last-mile delivery for citizens living in the state's most isolated rural and border regions.

The governor pushed for decentralized decision-making and better use of digital tools to crush geographical barriers. He wants data-driven governance. Officials must focus on outcomes instead of paperwork. The system needs to keep pace with shifting public aspirations. Parnaik emphasized strengthening grassroots institutions to give local communities more say in how development funds are spent and how government programs function.

He expects a shift toward transparency and higher accountability across the board. The governor noted that the state faces specific, difficult challenges, stating: "Arunachal Pradesh’s administrative system must keep pace with the aspirations of its people and the evolving demands of governance." His plan mandates that the administration becomes agile and responsive to local needs through widespread digitalization and timely service delivery.
