Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh and Bihar officials joined forces on July 16 to tackle rural nutrition and hygiene. They signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding in Gaya, Bihar. This deal targets Food, Nutrition, Health and WASH interventions under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission.
ArSRLM State Mission Director Sangeeta Yirang signed the agreement alongside BRLPS State Mission Director Himanshu Sharma. Swati Sharma, Joint Secretary for the Ministry of Rural Development, oversaw the ceremony. The Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society, often called JEEViKA, serves as the National Resource Organisation for this program.
The pact provides technical support to Arunachal. Bihar will offer mentorship, training, and knowledge sharing. They will host exposure visits for staff and provide sustained handholding. Officials say this plan focuses on grassroots institutions. It targets Self-Help Groups, Panchayat Level Federations, and Micro Cluster Level Federations.
The goal is simple. Build healthier rural communities. The program pushes for improved sanitation and food security through community-led action. It requires close coordination with line departments to ensure families access essential services. Authorities stated, "The collaboration is expected to improve the capacity of local institutions, encourage long-term behavioural changes and help build healthier, better-nourished and more resilient rural communities across Arunachal Pradesh."
This initiative builds up community cadres. It improves technical expertise across the state. Leaders expect better public health outcomes for rural families.
