Army Honors Kargil Hero Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguruse

Kohima: The Spear Corps and Assam Rifles gathered at the Kenguruse War Memorial in Nerhe-Phezha on Sunday. They marked the 27th Memorial Day for Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguruse. He earned the Maha Vir Chakra for his actions in the 1999 Kargil War. He died on June 28, 1999.

Lieutenant General Girish Kalia led the wreath-laying ceremony. He told the crowd to look to the fallen officer for guidance. He said, "He urged the youth to draw inspiration from the officer's life and legacy and contribute meaningfully towards nation-building and national service."

Family members, military brass, and NCC cadets attended the event. A documentary played for the guests. It showed the officer's life and his final days on the front line. Major General Harinder Singh Mavi also paid his respects. The day included a march-past by pipe bands and local ex-servicemen.

The military honored the captain's parents, Neisalie Kenguruse, during the service. Officials reaffirmed their bond with the people of Nagaland. They pledged to keep the officer's memory alive for years to come.
