Kohima: The ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) has launched a three month vocational training initiative titled Empowering Women Through Tailoring at the Don Bosco Campus in Dimapur. This program aims to build self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods for women and girls residing in the DMP I Constituency.
Supported by the advisor for Tribal Affairs and Election, H. Tovihoto Ayemi, the course will host 60 participants over the next three months. The curriculum covers a comprehensive range of skills including machine handling, cutting, garment construction, fabric measurements, and finishing techniques. Instructors will also integrate entrepreneurship training to ensure the participants are prepared for the professional market.
The launch event began with a prayer led by Rev. Fr. Nebu Mathew SDB, the rector of Don Bosco Campus. Dr. Bibiana Lungbila, the director of Training and Programmes at AIDA, welcomed the attendees before Rev. Fr. Dr. Roy George SDB delivered the keynote address. During his speech, the executive director encouraged the trainees to embrace the opportunity, noting that "tailoring remains a valuable livelihood skill."
The organization acknowledged the contributions of H. Tovihoto Ayemi and his personal assistant, Mharhonthung Murry, for their role in facilitating the project. Representing the advisor, Murry reaffirmed a continued commitment to supporting skill based interventions that promote economic independence for women in the region.
