Zunheboto Women Train in Organic Tea Production

Kohima: The District Hub for Empowerment of Women in Zunheboto hosted a one-day workshop on organic tea processing on June 26. Fourteen women attended the session at the office in Old Town. They learned how to produce green tea and first flush black tea.

Anatoli V Zhimo, founder of Naga Tea, led the training. She grows tea in Zungti Village. Her family started the bushes two decades ago but only began selling the tea a few years back. She uses simple equipment like ovens and dryers to handcraft her goods. She currently sells her tea at organic markets and local shops. She hopes to list her products on Amazon soon.

Zhimo credited various government and NGO programs for teaching her the ropes of running a business. She urged the attendees to stay hungry for knowledge. She noted, "It does not matter whether your business starts small or big. What matter is your dedication, consistency and willingness to learn. If you give your best to what you do, your efforts will eventually grow into something successful."

The training aims to help women build their own livelihoods. Zhimo emphasized that financial independence strengthens entire communities. She told the group to never ignore state-backed skill programs. These efforts push women to be more innovative.
