Kohima: The Zunheboto District Legal Services Authority teamed up with Hezukhu Memorial District Hospital to host a medical camp for Persons with Disabilities on September 11. Held at the Zunheboto Town Hall, the event focused on screening residents and issuing official disability certificates. Doctors performed medical assessments while staff provided guidance on welfare schemes and legal rights.
Easter H. Yepthomi, a retainer lawyer for the ZDLSA, chaired the event. Chaplain Kivika Yeptho opened the proceedings with an invocation. Officials pushed for better coordination between medical and legal sectors to help those in need. Atoka Achumi, the District and Sessions Judge and chairman of the ZDLSA, delivered the keynote address. He told the crowd that it is vital to keep pushing for equal access, stating, "Coordinated efforts among legal, medical and administrative institutions to ensure eligible persons receive the support and entitlements due to them."
Medical Superintendent Keholi Chishi also spoke. He emphasized that early medical checks are the backbone of getting proper care. The camp offered specific advice for anyone needing extra legal or medical help. Organizers urged attendees to bring caregivers to ensure they could fully access the available benefits and services.
