Kohima: Zunheboto authorities have officially banned commercial establishments from using domestic LPG cylinders. Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj issued the directive to stop hotels, restaurants, and dhabas from tapping into subsidized fuel supplies meant for household use.
The move follows reports of widespread misuse across the district. This practice violates the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Regulation of Supply and Distribution Order of 2000. It also breaks the Essential Commodities Act of 1955. Businesses must switch to authorized commercial cylinders immediately.
The administration warned that investigators will carry out surprise inspections to hunt down offenders. Officials stated that any establishment caught violating the rules "will face action under the Gas Cylinder Rules, 2016." Punishments include hefty financial penalties, equipment seizure, and the loss of trade licenses.
Local distributors must stop selling household gas to business owners. The district administration aims to end the diversion of subsidized fuel and tighten control over local supply chains. Raids are coming.
