Kohima: Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, opened the new Naga People’s Front 5 Ghaspani II Assembly Constituency office at City Centre in Medziphema Town on Tuesday. Party workers, NPF Central Office Bearers, and Chümoukedima division members attended the event. The office was dedicated by Rev. Viheshe Zhimomi.

Zhaleo praised 5 Ghaspani II president Thepfuselie Makritsu for building a dignified space for party work. He dismissed claims that regional parties lack clear agendas, calling them politically motivated lies. He claimed the NPF serves as an institution that protects the identity, culture, and history of the Naga people. He also vowed to defend Article 371(A) and push for a lasting Indo-Naga political solution.

The advisor shifted focus to local governance. He demanded that citizens register for the Population Census 2027 and the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls at their current homes rather than native villages. He noted, "accurate enumeration and enrolment were essential for genuine representation and protection of democratic rights."

The event also featured praise for the recent merger between the Rising People’s Party and the NPF. Zhaleo said this move bolsters regional unity and benefits the state. He thanked NPF president and Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio for his leadership. Speakers included Neikhriehu Kense, R. Ajila Yimkhiung, and Khehovi Yepthomi. The program featured music by Kirenjungla Longkumer, a vote of thanks by Lashito Shohe, and a closing benediction by Alal Doungel.
