East Dimapur Town Council opens two new roads in Model Colony

Kohima: East Dimapur Town Council officials opened two new roads in Model Colony on Friday. The construction covers Lane 11 and Lane 14 under Ward 1. These routes serve as vital links for the neighborhood. Work moved forward under the leadership of council chairperson Niuto Awomi.

Councillor Nito Achumi cut the ribbon for the Lane 14 project. The event opened with a prayer from Rev. James Seb, pastor of Rengma Baptist Church in Purana Bazar. Monidhar Mech also gave a brief address to the attendees. Meanwhile, councillor Krishna Mech inaugurated the road on Lane 11.

Local resident Hovito Yepthomi praised the finished work. He noted that the area previously suffered from severe neglect. Residents formerly paid out of their own pockets to spread sand and gravel just to keep the path motorable. "The road as a long cherished dream of the residents that had finally become a reality," Yepthomi said.

Community leaders thanked advisor Hekani Jakhalu for her role in securing the project. They also credited the Nagaland government for providing the necessary support to complete the construction.
