Nagaland Official Pushes for Better Infrastructure for State Administrators

Kohima: Nagaland Civil Administration Works Division Advisor Kudecho Khamo met with officials in Kohima on October 14 to review state infrastructure. He assessed the reach of the administrative network, which spans 17 districts from Deputy Commissioners down to Extra Assistant Commissioners. Many officers face harsh living and working conditions due to a lack of basic facilities. Change is coming.

Khamo stated that Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio is leading a push to upgrade these sites, noting that the government cannot finish all improvements at once. He wants officers to work with dignity. To ensure progress, he directed staff to finish Detailed Project Reports on time. Infrastructure must match the needs of the state machinery.

Land disputes remain a major hurdle. Khamo singled out landowners who block government projects after already collecting compensation and employment benefits. He did not mince words regarding these actions. He stated, "Describing such practices as traditionally wrong and morally sinful, he said they hindered development."

The meeting also served to welcome the new CAWD Assistant Chief Engineer, Er Ketuoselie Kenguruse. Deputy Commissioner Vekhoyi Chakhesang addressed the group, stressing the immediate need to support officers stationed in the districts.
